For BAS Mining, ESTEPE has equipped a series of Volvo FMX 8×4 trucks with a heavy duty pusher axle and a Rollover Protection Structure (ROPS) and Falling Object Protective Structure (FOPS).
The additional axle is steering and is equipped with air suspension. Besides that, the axle also has a lift function. The axle lift function can be operated using a switch in the cabin. If the axle is lifted, it will be centered automatically.
The ROPS FOPS serves for extra rolling and falling safety. Hereby the cabin is protected in case the truck rolls over or in the event that objects fall on the cabin. The BAS Mining trucks are equipped with a ROPS FOPS because the trucks are used in an underground mine.
In the video below, the trucks are provided with a superstructure and can be seen working in an underground mine near Paris.
